I’ve been struggling for some time with barred chords both on guitar and ukulele. I’ve watched quite a number of on line lessons on how to “easily” learn to do barre chords and until now I have had very minimal success. Your description of finger placement and instrument orientation I feel has gotten me over the hump!
I have a profound tendency to “leave the thumb behind” and maintaining finger spacing as I move along the neck with barred chords. Been doing finger exercises independent of the Uke to try and strength the individual fingers. Not going to give up !!
