Your hands look comfortable and you have a nice consistent rhythm here with the rest stroke technique, Warwick! I still find that stroke tricky but it definitely does have a beautiful warmer sound.

Returning to regular practice this week after a break due to a couple of injuries, work-life imbalance, etc. Hoping to re-establish a regular practice when holidays finish next week and I return to work. Currently working on sight reading, technique fundamentals and applying alternate fingerpicking to "Simple Gifts". Aloha and welcome Maria! I know it is a challenging transition learning a whole new set of fingerings on the ukulele after playing the mandolin. I would recommend learning basic chord shapes then working on accompaniment in the Fundamentals Strumming Course to start with. Then you can learn a few of the melodies in the Fundamentals Melody Course using the basic C scale across the top 3 strings. By repeating basic C, F, G7, G, and Am shapes you will…

Hello, All! I joined the Academy a few days ago and I am dealing with an issue: since I play the mandolin, my fingers do not obey to play the correct ukulele notes on the strings! I feel so confused... Any advice to get over it? Maria

Aloha Stephen, I recommend a practice tempo of 60 bpm and a performance tempo of 100 bpm. The 2nd page can be played even slower at 50 bpm to start with to get the steady flow of the 8th note variation of the 1st theme. Mahalo, Jeff

Hi Peter, Yes I’ve been in contact with Sam Muir and she’s sent me a few of the Drumond duets (machete and guitar). DGBD tuning. I haven’t seen any of the DGBE tunes pieces yet but I’ll keep an eye out. Cheers Chris
