Easy moveable chords on ukulele
Learn to play easy moveable chords on ukulele all over the fingerboard and in multiple keys in this fingerstyle ukulele lesson from Jeff Peterson.
The “CAGED” system on ukulele
To start out, all of the chords we will learn in this lesson will only use the top three strings. We won’t use the fourth string at all. And you only really need to know three major chords and three minor chords to learn all the others. So you can learn sixty chords just by learning six chords.
The reason for this is that we are using moveable shapes across the fingerboard with the CAGED system. We just make one small change to this system, which is so popular with guitar chords. Instead of the “E” in the CAGED system, we will use an F chord. Here we are only using three of the shapes so we can remove the fourth string as well.
Once you learn the initial shape, all we do is move them around up the fingerboard. The root note will change with each chord as we move up one fret. Let’s look at each shape and the chords that form from them:
