In this video I’ll walk you through 24 major chords on ukulele using only four shapes you can move around the fingerboard. Each of the chords in this lesson are three-string chords. The great thing about these chords is you can learn them without barres. For those who are more advanced, you can add barres to these chords to fill out the notes even more.

Jeff,
This is good stuff! Thanks for taking the time to do this…..my question is how are you using your right hand to play the notes? One at a time or together? Also are you muting the strings that are X’d out?
Thanks
Mark
Hi Mark,
There are many ways you could play the notes with the right hand depending on how the chord shapes are used and the sound you want to create. I recommend starting by using thumb on the 4th string, index on 3, middle on 2, and ring finger on the 1st string. I often move the thumb to the 3rd string when playing a chord shape that uses the top 3 strings. Index would then play 2 and middle would play 1. It is not necessary to mute strings when using this technique but you can mute strings that are not used with the left hand by angling the fingers slightly. This then allows you to strum chords with the thumb, index, or other combinations of fingers.
