Carry Me Home for Guitar and Ukulele

Carry Me Home for Guitar and Ukulele

This beautiful piece was written by Simon Powis after being inspired by the participants of the 2018 Classical Guitar Corner Summer School. (Jeff was a special guest artist at the 2023 CGC Summer School.) Carry Me Home is a duet originally written for 2 guitars and published in Graded Duets for Classical Guitar. Here it is played by Simon and Jeff on guitar and baritone ukulele.

The melody has a longing character to it and is carried forward by the perpetual syncopated rhythms of the accompaniment that only come to rest in the very last phrase of the piece. While the ukulele carries the melody for most of the piece, the guitar also has a beautiful melody in the middle of the piece.

If you’d like to hear the piece in its original format for two guitars, you can listen to it here.
